What is the SuperMON Challenge?

The SuperMON challenge was devised by M.Abaddon on YouTube, and coded and customized by Squidgy.

This is a Solo Pokémon Challenge where the objective is to get as far through the game as you can using just one Pokémon and four pre-selected moves from its valid learnset. You score points the further along the challenge you get, up to a maximum of 100 points for defeating Red.

To change your starters, talk to the right hand side of the desk with Professor Elm's PC. This is where you can set your DVs for the Pokémon, too. If you are playing with perfect DVs, set your Hidden Power type to DARK.

Rules

  • Only the starter Pokémon may be used in battle.
  • Items may not be used in battle.
  • Key Items replace HMs and other field moves.
  • Poké Balls and other methods of obtaining extra Pokémon are disabled.
  • A hard-coded level cap prevents your Pokémon from going past the level of the next Gym Leader or Elite Four member's highest leveled Pokémon.
  • Pokémon are unable to learn moves via level-up, TM, or Move Tutor. Instead, you select your four moves via the Super Nerd at the beginning of the challenge. Any move that a Pokémon can legally know in Pokémon Crystal is considered valid.
  • The challenge ends either when your Pokémon faints, or when you defeat Red.
